Fetches from the USPTO
Enter the application number and pull the IDSs already of record — no downloading, no renaming files.
Public beta CountIDS is free while in public beta. No account needed to start.
CountIDS reads every IDS in the application, counts the references, and tells you if a size fee is due — in seconds.
How it works
From the first IDS to the next one you are about to file, the count stays in one place.
Upload the PDFs, or fetch the IDSs already filed straight from the USPTO.
Patents, publications, foreign documents and NPL — even in scanned PDFs.
The cumulative count is checked against the 50, 100 and 200 thresholds.
Features
Enter the application number and pull the IDSs already of record — no downloading, no renaming files.
Typed forms, scans and image-only pages are read the same way, and every count can be checked.
Each application keeps its running total, so the next IDS is a one-step check.
FAQ
A USPTO fee that is due when an IDS brings the cumulative number of references cited in the application past 50, 100 or 200. CountIDS tells you which line, if any, your next IDS crosses.
The IDS files you upload, and the files CountIDS gets from the USPTO for you, are deleted when you confirm or discard the review, or after 48 hours with no activity. Your data is encrypted at rest; the Privacy Policy has the details.
If you try CountIDS without an account, everything you enter or upload stays in a temporary workspace. It is deleted when you sign up and your work moves into your account, and otherwise after 2 hours without activity or 12 hours after you start, at the latest. If you close your browser, you can no longer open it.
